Wedding Check list

You have asked the big question & have the YES!  So what happens now.

Here is a brief check list of the things you will need to do before the big day, based on a 12 month timeline.

 

12 Months Before

  • Pick a date – remember to check the calendar for important dates (public holidays, etc)
  • Plan your budget – This is very important so you know where your money is going
  • Select  & book your venues – Ceremony & Reception
  • Select & book an officiant/celebrant
  • Select & book a photographer / videographer – Some photographers & videographers book out 12-18mths in advance.  If you have your heart on somone you will need to get in early
  • Write up a guest list – Start with everyone & then trim it back to a more approriate number to fit your budget & venue
  • Have an engagement party – The guest list can be bigger than your wedding. Use the engagement party as a guide to who you want at your wedding

10 Months Before

  • Choose the Bridal Party – be sure to select family/friends who will make your day a special as posible.  You don’t need drama on your big day, so avoid people who will not encourage you
  • Start shopping for your wedding dress – Dresses can take 6-8 months to be made, so you want to be sure you give yourself enough time
  • Shop for bridesmaid dresses (& flower girls) – same time frames can apply to these dresses

8 Months Before

  • Order wedding stationary – invitations, RSVPs, Etc
  • Find a hair & makeup artist – You may need to do this earlier if you know of a stylist who is popular
  • Book wedding day/night accomodation – this is important if you are getting married on location & will require a space to get ready
  • Organise the wedding menu with the reception venue

6 Month Before

  • Finalise the guest list – send out save the dates (optional)
  • Confirm all vendors – venues, photographer,etc
  • Select an MC
  • Select & Book your honeymoon
  • Buy wedding bands (rings)
  • Select & book wedding flowers & other decorative items

4 Months Before

  • Shop & book Groom & Groomsmen outfits
  • Send invitations
  • Organise rehersal dinner

2 Months Before

  • Start recieving & keeping track of RSVPs
  • Dress fittings
  • Confirm groom & groomsmens outfits ordered/in & book fittings
  • Keep in contact with vendors

1 Month Before

  • Start table layout/ seating chart  – if having sit down wedding
  • Meet with venues & vendors
  • Pay all the vendors – doing this early will be easier than trying to pay people on the day or week before the wedding

1 Week Before

  • Finalise all the details with vendors
  • Rehersal dinner
  • Collect wedding dress, bridesmade dress(s) & grooms/groomsmens outfits
  • Have the week off to relax – this will help you get all the final jobs done
  • Have a pamper day – get your hair, nails & tan done.
  • Groom get hair cut
